14 Movies to Watch During Women’s History Month

5 min readMar 3, 2022

March is Women’s History Month and as a cinema lover I wanted to share some of my recommendations for films directed by women. In no way is this list complete and feel free to share more titles!

To Stream:

Atlantics (2019) directed by Mati Diop (Netflix)

Mati Diop mixes romance, social commentary, and ghosts into a reveling cinematic experience. Atlantics is one of my favorite films from 2019 and one I have revisited more than once. Read my full review here.

Daisies (1966) directed by Vera Chytilová (HBO Max)

A classic feminist experimental film, Daisies exists somewhere between social context and escapism. The title also is a revolutionary work of special effects for its time and utilizes color and aesthetics in a brilliant way. Read this piece on the film by Katie Duggan here.

Little Women (1994) directed by (Netflix)
